Book 0 Title Page

New Chapter. Not quite a prequel as it is a "New Readers start here" Episode. A standalone adventure as a means of reintroducing the series now that the story and in theory the style as settled in.

Whilst i'm content with book 1, i originally started Genma Visage under the pretense of Psyomaster Ryuken. Ego the comic was going to be a continuation of that Psyomaster \ Kouryu Sukuinushi written crap that you may remember (or at least remember the CH vs MG vs PR scenario. Yeesh). I was half way through Book 1 when i realised that i was never going to go back and finish that story, and i felt the comic should be its own body of work, hence the title Genma Visage.

So in effect GV was its own animal, and whilst quite a few characters, elements and designs return, the universe is different. The world of Psyomaster Ryuken was a huge final fantasy \ discworld that blends the modern as we know it with future elements, rpg elements and dungeons. Genma Visage is more simplified; it's just planet Earth with the odd fictional city or country. Of course horror exists and certain monsters live deep in the earth like Hiero's kind, or live in indigenous forests of the world like Zulie's kind. Ryuken, mind you is officially an alien by this point, and whilst there's a settlement of his kind on Earth that has existed for many millenia (this settlement is Usheana's home town btw) his homeworld is among a floating array of continents in outer space. I'm not too sure where at the moment but the short comic i did "War Dog" hints that it's not far from Venus.

Not to get personal, but in effect i owe those who are familiar with what I've said an "apology" so to speak, as Psyomaster Ryuken was all for zilch. At the same time i can't pull punches as the product has simply returned to its roots, from pretentious martial arts anime bull to action horror just like in the old days of BloodFeud over 10 years ago. And the good thing about that is it can do it with a lot more maturity and experience. Whether or not there will be more elements from PR we'll just have to wait and see.

So yeah to recap whilst GV pondered on the PR days, book 1 wasn't quite bolted down to a genre in the same way Book 2 and 3. With Book 0 i would be giving an introduction in the same vein. It's also the only opportunity to put some new characters i can't put anywhere else in the current saga until much later.

Rant aside i can talk about the artwork a bit, though there's not much to talk about i don't think. When i was halfway through this picture i contemplated about starting a new one with all none of those characters in it. Because it's a "new readers start here" chapter and because GV is more of a horror, I was a bit worried about introducing certain monsters too quickly would rob it of the scare factor. But, i'm real sick of doing decompressed comics for GV by this point, and webcomic readers seldom have the patience for it, so sod it. Let's take the bull by the horns.
