Ayup chaps! Over the past Month I've been knocking up new covers for Genma Visage for the upcoming Amazon Kindle and Lulu release Early next year. Wanting to dust off the dirt with the previous covers and also have an exercise with digital painting, these also be by proxy the current covers for conventions from now on. I am also thinking about releasing Books 1 to 3 as a single Omnibus from now on which will including another cover on top for that. For now though, whilst i had my critiques of the previous deadline-pressured covers, I'm quite happy with these new ones.

OLD Genma Visage Book 3: Leviathon Cover by MrTuke  <---The old one for comparison.

The crooked jaw and the 3 dimensional flatness of the previous pic was the first thing i had to correct on in this rendition. I had to play around a bit in the new elements for this one. I swapped the pose from the original Book 1 cover for here. Originally Pteradon, Leviathon, Jacobi and a full city landscape was originally going to be wedged here but in the end i pushed all of that into the new Book 2 cover instead. Instead i kept with the sewer theme as depicted in the comic itself. Also i gave Zulie in the back there a bit more involvement than before, emphasising her role more.

That's more or less to it regarding what i can mention for this particular piece, other than it was the first of the 3 covers to be completed. Plus it did make me think if working on A3 was necessary. It is of course a tradition not just in general but for me to work larger for covers so that I've got something to show off at conventions. Given the digital painting side of things, it did make me wonder if i should have tried A4 to save time. Bah, lazy talk, :P, although better quality paper would have been more helpful.

Art and Characters by me. Done in Pencils, Inks and Photoshop. Textures provided with photography from my own travels. If anyone is interested in a copy, email me tstuke@hotmail.com and keep your eyes peeled for the Online release on the website.

It's incredible how you can make such exaggerated proportions feel organic and natural, not to mention the incredible attention to detail and level of quality.
