Of the sleep of Relicia

Preview panel of a short comic project I'm working on. Here we detail the Chronomancer Relicia's memories of 9000 years ago, when she was one of two princesses of the Phoenix dynasty from the otherworldly Libyan dimension, before it's destruction when her sister Lumriya was subjected to Nishin Genma's cruel experiments.

Design wise I was mostly working with fantasy owing in part to alternative dimension existing thousands of years before mankind's civilisations began to kick into action. Nevertheless for Relicia's homeworld I looked towards Greco Phoenician vibes mixed with some Mesopotamian looks for their design. Also with Nishin Genma's designs in the background middle righ, there's often a psychic totemic significance to their machinery to empower and mutate test subjects to their will. In this case, using the idea behind the dreaded Brazen Bull as a device that cooks psychic monsters into being seemed like a believable length that these Villians would go to for their goals.
