And ho ho! We have the cover for Boom 0 part 2! And what an Apocalyptic Monstrous force to be reckoned with on this edition. Just a note in advance though, although there is a Part 1, it has been taken down as of late for a expanded revision. However with Part 2, stretching at over 120 pages, it's for the most part constructed in a way to keep you quite informed on details past and present.
In fact, generally speaking, anyone who hasn't read the Genma Visage can start here. With books 1 to 3, the series has expressed a somewhat Underground flair, a kinda caught in the middle of appeal. Genma Visage as a series has the ferocity of a horror story, the edgy anti-authoritarianism that the UK underground scene can muster, the passion of a  dedicated creator, the ambition for mainstream comics, and last but not least, winks and nods towards Anime and feature length animation. It's quite a chimera to say the least, and with the Progeny of Shemsu-Hor (the standalone title i chose for Part 2), everything comes full circle for progress by which i would say the series is certainly on the march by this point, with all guns and artillery blazing. I'm very proud of this edition, as although life and progress still provides a long road ahead, I would say this book is a very cheerful turning point on my journey. :)

Summary of Genma Visage: The Progeny of Shemsu-Hor

It's Psychic Monsters, Mutant Demigods, and Babes galore as Genma Visage returns in its biggest adventure yet. At over 120 pages with Indepth Story, Eye-Popping art and No-Nonsense Ultraviolence as the Artist / writer Thomas Tuke can deliver, The Progeny of Shemsu-Hor is a spectacular addition to one of most Hardcore series in the London Underground scene.

Although the occult order of Nishin Genma has long disbanded, the tendrils of its hellish legacy still slivers through the worlds of Shuromij and Earth. And there will always be a flicker of temptation in the ambitious and the foolish, and those fearful of heart will wonder who or what will take the burden of the Nishin Genma's mantle onto such bold shoulders.

Fast-forwarding to the present, while the Chronomancer Relicia gives her consort Seker the time of his life in the bedroom, the Britonum Warriors are bringing Hell to England. Under the cloak of invisibility, their leader, the monstrous Killer Chav uses all her new Governmental resources to enforce her reign of terror across the land. Although the ex-Supervillian Mantaklaw has sprung out of retirement to the rescue, everyone is caught unaware when Killer Chav accidentally awakens an Evil far older and greater in power than any mortal foe who dares face it.

Alas, the familiar ghost of the Bognor Regis Rehab, who has protected its residents, fought the Britonum Warriors, and survived the Britonum war, now emerges from the Shadows to combat this new threat. Even still, a nagging thought echoes in his mind; just how far back does the legacy of Nishin Genma go?

I'm keeping Schtum about the story from this point, but for those who are familiar with the series can probably tell that the monsters in this cover aren't here to sell cookies. What i will say though, is that the main villains behind this particular storyline make for some of what i personally find the scariest characters yet. Scary in the sense that it felt like having the dark side of human nature and your own personal cynicism look you right in the face, and it is unsettling. :E

As a piece of work, I went through several ideas for a cover in the development. Because i was bouncing back and forth, my intent was to do a few and whatever doesn't go on the front can still get used for other promotional purposes. Whilst that is still the case, i knew within a few hours of working on this piece that this was going to be the one I would use. One of the things in this book is that there are quite a few scenes where many characters are composed into one picture based on a a single event or battle, not to mention lots of scenery. Much of the series of Genma Visage as a horror has focused on isolated scenes of the macabre. To actually "go epic" like we do here is certainly a step up in scale, and my ambitious intent was to at the very least demonstrate my patience for war scenes, particularly for doing something along the lines of Warhammer pinups for example.

The fascination with Ancient Egypt is quite evident in the series. Although the plot doesn't included the country directly, the Egyptology-esque lands as depicted in Genma Visage was certainly quite deep to explore. It was certainly fun to look into the burials rituals of the dead. Referenced is the Opening of the Mouth ritual, which was considered a...uh... turning point in the burial of the diseased. Let's just say that's one of the reasons i went with this idea for a cover. :)

This took about a week to do, 3 or 4 days work maybe, spread over a period of a month as i worked on other bits and bobs. The only frustrating part i found was recent in that scanning it was a pain. It was done on A3 and scanning and compiling with an A4 scanner is laborious. I think with my fight money earned i need to go and grab something bigger in the future.

Art and Characters by me. Done in Inks and watercolour pencils. The cover, or rather this layout, is still a work in progress that may change towards the printing of the first edition. Critique is welcome.

The emblem on the top left by the way is what's replacing
